› BIOGRAPHY
Capturing the ethereal qualities of antique lace in everlasting gold and fine silver, jewellery designer Alison Wheeldon, launched her debut collection, LACQUEUS, in 2007. A Sydney based graduate of the College of Fine Arts, Wheeldon has developed and refined a unique process to create individual pieces that are a fusion of fine art and traditional jewellery.
Lace is feminine and the desire is created through its delicate splendor, and the open spaces exposing the beauty of female skin. LACQUEUS is a variation of the Latin word for lace and the noose, it is this juxtaposition of meaning, that of strength and fragility, beauty and seductive mystery, that Alison hopes to explore through jewellery.
Alison’s jewellery is gaining international recognition. Alison’s work was chosen for an International Jewellery exhibition “Refined Abundance” in Texas, The United States of America, curated by renowned jewellery artist and collector Charon Kranson (The Netherlands).
Most recently Alison was invited to participate as an Accessory Designer at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW) – The Asia Pacific Fashion Week, Spring summer 2008/09 Collections. As one of only five jewellery designers invited to the New Designers showcase, Alison will be presenting her work alongside some of Australia’s leading fashion designers.
